This week’s car of the week is a 1982 Porsche 928. The price for this great Porsche is only $5,950 (according to NADA the low retail on this car $6,475). According to the seller the car is in good mechanical condition with only 90,000 miles on it and according to the vehicle report has no issues with title. However, it has quite a few cosmetic things (mainly on the interior) with the biggest being the leather seats are in bad shape.
The car is in the Fort Worth, Texas area and as with any car purchase I would recommend having it checked out by a good mechanic before purchasing.

Project 944 is coming along slowly but surely. This last weekend I was able to add a go fast goody, a short shifter. Once the short shifter is installed it is amazing the difference that you feel when shifting. The shifts are now very crisp and a lot quicker.
The short shifter that I chose is from Schnell and was purchased from Vertex Auto (Before I go any further I want to say that this part was not sent to me to review and neither Vertex Auto nor Schnell is not supporting this site). The short shifter reduces throw by 30%.
It was pretty easy to install the short shifter and it only took about a hour an half. The instructions are very clear and it only takes a few simple steps to install. The hardest part of the installation is getting to the bolts and lining up some of the bolt holes.
The part is very well made and I would recommend it to any Porsche 944 owner that wants to have quicker shifts.
I’ve heard many people say that they would reserve judgment of the styling of the new Porsche Panamera until they see one in person and I have said the same. Well, On a recently trip to Las Vegas, I was fortunate enough to see a Panamera in person and was blown away at what it looked like.
In person the car looks quite a bit different than it does on TV or in magazines. From the front it resembles a 911 or Cayman with some slight styling differences. The car is a good size car, but doesn’t seem as long as it appears in pictures. The back appears to have a little steeper slope than what it looks like in most pictures and the car sounds great.
Although for me it is hard to think of a Porsche having more than two doors, the Panamera appears to be a very great four door sports sedan that is about as close as you can get to a sports car in a sedan and by it’s performance and appearance looks to be worthy of the badge. Now perhaps they will use it as the basis of a new GT sports car (almost a new version of the 928 as the rumors out there are saying).
